Orchard Hedge Bamboo

B. oldhamii

The most common giant tropical bamboo grown in northern NZ. Culms straight and erect to 15m tall and 100mm dia. Relatively short branches and leaves are rather wide. Not really hardy to frost, plants will be killed even when well established if air temperature is below -6°C for too long. A superior shelter plant for our very windy climate.
